This is the web "copy" of my photo exhibition "SurReal Europe", which holds in the Berlaymont building (the centre of the European Commission)
as of 2nd March to 30th April 2009, in the time frame of the Czech presidency to the EU.

The exhibition is under the patronage of Mr. Vladimir Spidla, the Commissioner of the European Commission
and under the patronate of the Czech Centre Brussels.

You can find this exhibition in 12 lifts of the Berlaymont building, so this exhibition is in movement all the time.
Even if there are only 12 my photos, their size is quite big - 60 cm x 80-90 cm.
(After the exhibition it will be possible to by these photos for the price of 90 Euros each. Please, mail to the author: jan(sabaka)fikacek.cz.)

Philosophy of the exhibition: Europe is culturally very different and these (and other) differences are the engine of European movement, because every movement is caused by a difference (according to the second law of thermodynamics). But the engine “eats” differences for the movement (producing entropy), like car engines “eat” petrol. So, in order to keep the movement, it is necessary to delivery other fuel (differences) for having the movement sustainable. The only thing, which can create differences is creativity of culture, science etc. This exhibition is one small pieces of the European fuel; different, surreal view to a few places: Bruges, Brussels, Gent, Grimbergen, Groote Bijgaarden, Chateau d’Etoges, Lugano, MassMechelen, and Paris. But they are seen by Czech eyes, and this Czech-Europe difference is one small move of the European engine.

The photo-technique, which is mainly used, is so called High Dynamic Range (HDR),
which is based on 9 different exposures of the same image, from the darkest one to the brightest one.
A special software will use only ideally exposed parts from the different photos to prepare one image with ideal light.
